Why is no big team buying Adama Traore

by Sangam Adhikari

Adama Traore looks like someone from Rugby started playing football. He is an absolute tank and probably the fastest player currently in the PL. He surely is an intimidating figure, imagine him running at you with full speed and by that time you finish imagining he goes past you and scores an absolute banger of a goal. That’s probably the sight defenders fear with him.

The current season has been a breakthrough season for the 23-year-old wherein he has changed the momentum of matches in a few minutes with his blistering display of football, not to mention his searing pace and quick dribbling which is tormenting every defender. He certainly has shaped into a game-changer and has scored vital goals, screamers to be honestly turning the tides in his team’s favour most notably against Tottenham and against Manchester City.

The reason why no big team have not bought Adama Traore yet is because it is this season in which he has come out and shown his quality. In the previous season he showed promise but in this season he was absolutely fantastic. the current season is apprently the only season where Adama has looked a better player than before and has made some decent impact.he was good at Aston villa and Middlesbrough too but did nothing exceptional to be regarded as one to look out for. Ofcourse he has that pace to burn and had those flashes of brilliant display once in a blue moon but that was that.

Why teams decide on passing him on is because of him being very inconsistent and very one dimensional. He was and probably effective only with the ball at his feet, kick the ball and run after it and there is no one who would reach the ball before him. That probably was the only thing which was decent in previous seasons with him.

Wolverhampton Wanderers who bought him from Middlesbrough at about £18 million and just transformed him as a player. Nuno played a really crucial part in helping him develop as a player and not only him but he also transformed the newly promoted club into a club that fights for the European places in the Premier League. Wolves stood 7th this season (2019–2020) ahead of 8th placed Arsenal.

Adama Traore has impressed us all this season (2019–2020) with his passing, speed, strength and most importantly the reading of the game. He’s really grown as a player under manager Nuno Espírito Santo. From being just another player who runs with pace to now where he not only scores but also have become a team player contributing in most of the goals scored by Wolves this season.

There were many clubs that showed their interests in the 24-year old winger but one cub that was heavily linked with the Spanish-born player was Liverpool FC. Jurgen Klopp was really impressed with the former Barcelona man. “[Traore] is unplayable in moments, it’s unbelievable,” said the Liverpool boss. “What a player – it’s not only him but he’s so good.” These were the words of Klopp after beating Wolves in a Premier League match this season. Liverpool’s left-back Andrew Robertson said in a podcast “Traore this season ripped me apart, to be fair.”

But with time the rumours of Traore joining Liverpool went cold and now at the moment, Wolves are on a mission to tie him down at the club with a new contract, having already succeeded in keeping their manager Nuno at the club until 2021.

He is just 23, whole lot of football left in him but he needs to find consistent form and start scoring goals more often. He has changed from a headless quick chicken with no final ball or worthy output to a more stable player but he needs to find form even more consistently. Apparently this is why not many teams have shown interest in him which might change with the way he is performing. Look out for clubs willing to land him next season or a season after.
